EU gives full effect to UN arms embargo against Central African Republic
On 23 December, the Council banned the export of arms and related material from the EU to the Central African Republic, to give full effect in the EU to UN Security Council resolution 2127 (2013) of 5 December.
The prohibitions also cover the provision of financial and technical assistance, including armed mercenary personnel. Certain exemptions to the arms embargo are provided for, including in relation to material intended solely for the Mission for the Consolidation of Peace in Central Africa (Micopax), the African-led international support mission to Central African Republic (MISCA) and the French forces deployed in the Central African Republic.
