European Equal Pay Day
For the occasion of European Equal Pay Day on 10 November, Values and Transparency Vice PresidentVěra Jourová Employment and Social Rights Commissioner Nicolas Schmitand Equality Commissioner Helena Dalli made the following declaration: “Equality is one of the fundamental values of the EU and it is the basis of the independence and freedom of citizens. Women and men deserve equal pay, equal treatment and equal opportunities. In the European Union, on average, women continue to earn less than men. For every euro that men earn, women earn 86 cents. European Equal Pay Day is a day that marks the way forward to finally achieve equal pay for women and men in the EU."
