Oil Coordination Group: Continued concern about prices while supply remains stable
The Oil Coordination Group met again today to take stock of the current oil market situation. EU supply remains stable for the time being – albeit at high prices for diesel and jet fuel, reflecting global market tightness. Market tightness is also reflected in the commercial stocks figures for the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp hub (ARA), which are below their 5-year average but look stable in the last weeks. European refineries are running at near maximum capacity and responding well to market signals.
With the possibility of further disruptions, the Commission will keep monitoring the situation very closely in cooperation with member states. Latest EUROSTAT figures show that emergency stocks remain at a high level and available in case of market disruption.
A number of Member States outlined measures they are taking to ease the price burden – in particular for vulnerable consumers.
The next meeting of the Oil Coordination Group, in its format including industry, is scheduled for 15 October 2026. The Commission confirmed its readiness to convene an additional meeting earlier if the situation so requires.
