#Coronavirus cases among health workers in #Kazakhstan reach 211
Overall, 211 doctors from 13 regions of Kazakhstan reported to have contracted coronavirus. This is 20.5% of the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country, chairperson of Committee for Quality Control and Safety of Goods and Services of the Kazakh Healthcare Ministry Lyudmila Byurabekova said at a press briefing.
Of those, 74 doctors infected with the coronavirus are the workers at the specialized hospitals, who are involved in the care and treatment of patients with suspected or confirmed coronavirus infection.
The highest number of COVID-19 cases among the health workers is in Nur-Sultan, Almaty, North Kazakhstan region and Atyrau region. “Twenty patients are the health workers of a quarantine center in Nur-Sultan, 10 patients are the doctors of the provisional hospitals in Karagandy region, 10 in North Kazakhstan region, West Kazakhstan region and Turkistan region. 44 patients are in infectious diseases hospitals. Almaty reported 28 cases, Nur-Sultan nine, Atyrau four, Zhambyl region one, Karagandy region one and Kyzylorda region one,” Byurabekova said.
She also commented on the overall COVID-19 situation in the country. “To date, there are 979 confirmed coronavirus cases in Kazakhstan. 110 patients recovered. 21 patients are in a critical condition. The total death toll is now 12. On average, daily growth in coronavirus cases in the country is 9.9 percent. 86 new cases have been recorded in the country in the past 24 hours, including 20 in Nur-Sultan and 28 in Almaty. The growth was 9.9 percent,” Byurabekova added.
