EU ocean observation survey: Share your insights by 15 September

Through the OceanEye initiative, the EU aims to become a global leader in ocean observation technology and secure 35% of the global ocean technology market by 2035. 

To support this ambition, the European Commission has launched a survey to better understand the structure, performance and competitiveness of the European ocean observation sector in comparison with international competitors, and the challenges it faces. The survey is part of a broader study on the competitiveness of the EU sustainable blue economy sector, with a focus on ocean observation technologies.

Companies and organisations developing, supplying or working with ocean observation technologies are invited to participate by 15 September.

The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.

Who should contribute?

The survey is directed at EU businesses across the ocean observation value chain, including

  • Sensor and instrument manufacturers
  • Autonomous platform and marine robotics developers
  • Data and data service providers
  • Software and analytics providers
  • Systems integrators
  • Other ocean observation technology developers and service providers.

Why you should contribute

The study will help build a clearer picture of Europe’s industrial strengths and innovation potential in this strategic field. 

Your input will feed into the European Commission’s analysis of the sector underpinning the implementation of the OceanEye initiative, and help ensure that future EU policies, funding programmes, and support measures reflect the realities and priorities of the sector.

Participants will receive a summary of the aggregated findings and, if they consent, may also be considered for featured case studies showcasing companies from the European ocean observation sector.
