Kazakh head of state held talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres
During the meeting, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked the Secretary-General for his visit to Kazakhstan. He noted that the high-ranking guest’s arrival, despite his busy schedule ahead of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, is of particular importance for our country and demonstrates the UN’s commitment to the sustainable development agenda.
According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the opening of the first Sustainable Development Goals Center in Central Asia is an important achievement for the entire region.
"On my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Kazakhstan, I express my sincere gratitude to you and your team for your continued support of this initiative. I also highly appreciate your timely and far-sighted UN80 initiative. Kazakhstan fully supports your efforts to reform the UN and shares your priorities. In this regard, I reaffirm Kazakhstan’s unwavering commitment to the fundamental principles of multilateralism, diplomacy and cooperation, which underpin the activities of the United Nations," the president said.
