Two British voluntary workers missing in Ukraine - police
Ukrainian police said on Monday (9 January) that they are looking for two British volunteers who were missing from east Ukraine. This is the scene of heavy fighting among Russian and Ukrainian forces.
According to a police statement, the two were identified as Andrew Bagshaw (and Christopher Parry) and stated that they were trying find their whereabouts.
Police stated that the pair left Kramatorsk on Friday to go to Soledar. They were reported missing Saturday night after losing contact with them. They were both aged 28 and 48, but the police statement did not give any details about their voluntary work.
Kramatorsk lies approximately 80km (50 miles) away from Soledar. There, the Ukrainian military claims that fighting is intense.
The British foreign office stated that it was supporting the families of two British citizens who were reported missing in Ukraine.
