A photographed document from the Department for International (DIT) has revealed the government is planning to water down Climate Change and wildlife regulations.
Liberal Democrat MEP Catherine Bearder who has been pushing the European Parliament to toughen up laws against wildlife traffickers in Europe said:
“The Tories are using Brexit as an excuse to sabotage vital environmental standards. It seems they have already forgotten their 2015 manifesto promise to ban the illegal ivory trade. The Government must bear in mind the EU can veto any trade deal with the UK if it fails to maintain rigorous environmental protection.”
