european-parliament-strasbourg1In a historic vote on Tuesday (16 September), Parliamentarians in Strasbourg and Kiev voted simultaneously to approve the EU–Ukraine association agreement. Closer to home, the EP proposed to increase financial aid for farmers affected by the Russian agricultural import ban and urged the EU to use all possible means to combat the Islamic State. The EP approved the EU–Ukraine association agreement that would strengthen political and economic ties between the two parties. Parliamentarians in Kiev voted on the text at about the same time, with a live video link between the two parliaments.
In a resolution passed on Thursday (18 September), MEPs supported the latest EU sanctions against Russia and proposed to increase funding to support farmers most affected by the Russian embargo on specific agricultural products.

The EU must use all possible means to help the Iraqi national and local authorities combat IS, including appropriate military assistance, MEPs said in a resolution adopte on Thursday.

In an effort to create a digital single market, the EU should scrap roaming charges, promote e-commerce and improve data protection, said MEPs in a debate on Tuesday.More information
