First discussion on European Energy Union strategy (15h)
Parliament will discuss the plans for a European Energy Union, a top priority for the current Commission, after they are unveiled in the House on Wednesday afternoon (25 February) by Vice President for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič. The debate starts at 15h.
Parliament to debate European Central Bank (ECB) activities with Mario Draghi (18h15)
MEPs will debate the ECB’s activities with its President Mario Draghi and Commission Vice President for the euro Valdis Dombrovskis on Wednesday. Likely issues include completing the Banking Union, recent monetary policy measures (buying up asset-backed securities and quantitative easing), and the ECB's role in the EU Commission/IMF/ECB 'troika' and in developments in Greece.
Debate on informal summit outcome and fight against terrorism (17h)
The outcome of the 12 February informal summit, where EU leaders urged EU lawmakers to deliver a European Passenger Name Record (PNR) directive with data protection safeguards, will be debated with European Council and Commission Presidents Donald Tusk and Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday. MEPs are also likely to address the plight of Greece and developments in Ukraine.
