This announcement was made during a conference on security matters in Europe. The largest political alliance, of the European Conservatives and Reformists (AECR) officially accepted BWC as a full member. Barekov has said that BWC will be renamed the Conservative Party of Bulgaria.

Barekov announced that the newly registered coalition party, Bulgarian Conservatives and Reformists, are currently negotiating about how the coalition will present itself during the forthcoming presidential election. With regards to the rumours that the new coalition will damage the status quo, the MEP said that he has no intention to join the ranks in front of the Russian Embassy in Sofia, where "all other Bulgarian parties have positioned themselves".

"I am part of the World Alliance of the Republican Party in the US and the British Conservatives. As such, I am a political opponent of Putin and all other semi-democratic regimes around the world. I respect Russia but I am Bulgarian patriot and I love Bulgaria," Barekov underlined.

He was clear that in Bulgaria there is no left and right. "In Bulgaria there are several parties under the control of Erdogan and Putin. They dominate the ruling coalition and its pseudo opposition in parliament. I am the only one Bulgarian politician from the authentic opposition, who is received regularly at the White House in the US and 10 Downing Street in London" stated Barekov.
