  • Today (2 October), the European Court of Auditors (ECA) will publish its special report examining how effective is the EU funding for health systems in selected partner countries.

Background

The auditors examined a sample of projects in Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zimbabwe, also through on-the-spot visits. The EU’s support for health in partner countries amounted to over €3 billion in each of the two previous programming periods (2007-2013 and 2014-2020), and to over €2 billion at the beginning of 2024 for the current period (2021-2027).

—The report and press release will be published on the ECA’s website (eca.europa.eu) at 5pm CEST today.
