Gender equality
EU action plan for gender equality and women’s empowerment in EU external action (GAP IV)
About this initiative
Hard-won gains on women’s human rights are being curtailed by authoritarian regimes and anti-rights movements worldwide at an unprecedent scale, and more than 30 years since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform of Action. Donors’ cuts are compounding the backlash, causing major setbacks. The GAP IV will set the EU vision for promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment as a strategic priority in all external actions, in an increasingly fragile global environment.
