Taiwan’s U-Theatre opens ‘December Dance’ festival in Bruges
On 4 December, the Taiwanese dance troupe U-Theatre opened the 8th installment of the ‘December Dance’ dance festival in Bruges with the European premiere of their latest production ‘Beyond Time’.
This year, the festival focuses on the booming contemporary dance scene in Asia, combining traditional and modern dance in captivating and unique performances. ‘Beyond Time’ incorporated a mix of traditional dance, percussion, martial arts and new media arts. U-Theatre played before a full house of over 1,200 dance lovers. After the performance, a reception hosted by the Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium was held, during which Representative Kuoyu Tung took a moment to reflect on the power of the arts to communicate across cultures. Bruges Mayor Renaat Landuyt also took the stage to thank U-Theatre for their wonderful performance, a statement echoed by the enthusiastic audience.
