Commission seeks views from the public and experts to shape the upcoming Circular Economy Act
The Commission has launched a public consultation and a call for evidence to gather views from the public and experts for the upcoming Circular Economy Act. The feedback gathered will provide the Commission with a better understanding of the bottlenecks and the opportunities in advancing circular economy in Europe. The Circular Economy Act will accelerate this transition, increasing the EU's economic security, resilience, competitiveness and decarbonization.
Due for adoption in 2026, the Act will establish a single market for secondary raw materials and increase the supply of high-quality recycled materials – all while stimulating demand for these materials in the EU. This follows the recommendations from the Letta and Draghi reports, the industry (Antwerp Declaration), the European Council (Budapest Declaration), and the European Parliament. The Circular Economy Act will contribute to the goals set out in the Competitiveness Compass and the Clean Industrial Deal to make the EU the world leader in circular economy by 2030 and to double EU circularity rate.
Public and experts can participate in the online consultations at the Commission's Have Your Say portal until 6 November 2025.
