Directorate-General of Research and Innovation at the EU Green Week 2026
This June, the 26th edition of EU Green Week will spotlight the business case for nature, demonstrating how a nature-positive economy can strengthen Europe’s prosperity, resilience and competitiveness.
Organised by European Commission Directorate-General for Environment, the high-level conference in Brussels on 3-4 June will feature a dynamic programme combining panel discussions, TED-style talks, cinema nights and a dedicated startup-investor matchmaking event.
Bringing together policymakers, investors, researchers, businesses, farmers and civil society, EU Green Week 2026 will highlight how research and innovation can help turn environmental ambition into concrete action and economic opportunity.
As part of this year’s programme, European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) is organising two side events focused on scaling up nature-based solutions and strengthening water resilience through research, innovation and investment.
Scaling Investment in Nature-Based Solutions
2 June 2026, 14:00 CEST at ORBN Library and online
This event will explore how to mobilise investment towards a nature-positive economy by bringing together municipalities, businesses, practitioners and EU-funded projects. Participants will exchange cross-sector perspectives on the opportunities and challenges linked to scaling up nature-based solutions across areas such as transport, water, insurance and urban development.
Water Resilience as a Competitive Edge: Bridging R&I Gaps for Nature-Based Solutions
5 June 2026, 09:00 CEST at CHARL building and online
This event will examine how research, innovation and private investment can help transform water resilience into a driver of European competitiveness, while accelerating the deployment of nature-based solutions.
In addition, DG RTD and the European Research Executive Agency (REA) will host a stand on 3–4 June showcasing Horizon Europe Cluster 6 projects contributing to the transition towards a nature-positive economy.
