#EU2017EE: European Youth are mapping the future topics in Tallinn conference #youthconf #speakup

The conference 'Youth in Europe: What’s next?' is held in the framework of the Estonian EU Presidency in Tallinn Creative Hub on 24-26 October. The Conference will bring together more than 260 participants, including young people and youth policy makers from the EU Member States, Eastern Partnership Countries, and experts from the organisations of the youth field to discuss youth policy, explore what really matters to the young people today and how to use it for the future strategies. The aim of the conference is to provide insight and input to consultations on the new EU Youth Strategy.

The conference will be opened by the Prime Minister of Estonia, Jüri Ratas. The importance to address youth issues will also be emphasised by the President of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid, who will give a speech to the conference delegates and take part in discussions with young people. The hopes and expectations of delegates will be handed over to EC Commissoner Tibor Navracis at the end of the conference.

The aim of the conference is to bring together young people and policy makers in order to map all the possible questions, topics, worries, hopes, problems and challenges influencing young people and their lives today and in the future.

On the first day of the conference, the discussions will be inspiredby best-practice examples from around Europe and by keynotes in plenum by Keit Kasemets from the Commission Representation in Estonia, Luis Alvarado Martinez from the European Youth Forum, Anett Männiste, Estonian representative from the Erasmus+ Change Makers Initiative and Peter Mladenov, Bulgarian representative from the Structured Dialogue Steering Committee. On the second day of the conference, a young Estonian Youtuber Gustav Paul Tamkivi and her mother Ede Schank Tamkivi give insight to their channel GusMath’s success.

The guiding concept of the conference is inspired by the latest rapid digital developments that have impact on the everyday life of our society in all of its aspects, notably to youth population, but showing itself also in the new formats of work and business models as well as in new ways of self-expression and self-development. The conference is grounded on the belief that the future of Europe and society at large depends on young people.

The conference is organized by the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research in cooperation with the Estonian Youth Work Centre and creative partners from Musiccase Ltd and Tallinn Music Week in the framework of Estonian Presidency in the EU.
