Alstom signs €80m wind contract in Poland

Alstom signed a contract with PGE Energia Odnawialna S.A., worth approximately €80 million, for the supply of 30 ECO 110 wind turbines for the Lotnisko 90MW wind farm, which will be based in Kopaniewo. With a total output of 90MW and scheduled for commissioning at the end of 2015, Lotnisko is one of the largest projects in the Polish wind power industry, and the first wind power project implemented by Alstom in Poland. The scope of the contract covers the project management, supply, erection and commissioning of 30 Alstom ECO 110 3 MW wind turbines equipped with a 110 m diameter rotor, a 90 metre high steel tower, and a SCADA remote control system. Alstom will also provide turbines operation and maintenance for two years.

We are convinced that Alstom competences in Poland in the conventional energy sector, combined with the proven technology represented by ECO 110 turbines, will translate into an efficient execution of the contract and guarantee Alstom a successful debut on the Polish wind market,” said Investments Department Director  PGE Energia Odnawialna S.A. Krzysztof Műller. Lotnisko is part of PGE's strategy to reach at least 234 MW of power from wind farms by 2016. “Alstom is proud to contribute to the project, thus confirming our involvement in the development of the wind power sector and the effort to build a sustainable energy mix in Poland. With our long-term experience in power projects and local resources at our disposal, Alstom will also take an active part in the project implementation,” explained Yves Rannou, senior vice president of Alstom Wind business.

The ECO 110 is part of Alstom’s proven ECO 100 turbine platform. More than 130 turbines of this type have already been installed in Europe, including Spain, Great Britain, Turkey and Finland. All Alstom wind turbines are based upon the unique and proven Alstom Pure Torque® rotor support concept that protects the drive train from deflection loads, ensuring higher reliability and lower maintenance costs. Alstom builds and operates wind farms globally – more than 2,600 turbines are currently installed or under construction in more than 200 wind farms, delivering over 5,000 MW.
