With 25 million children in the EU at risk of poverty or social exclusion (28.1% Eurostat), the future of Europe is in jeopardy. Investing in our children is a key for the future of Europe and, therefore, a top priority for Caritas Europa. Tackling child poverty also needs to be a priority of the EU and its member states.

This exhibition includes a selection of pictures from a number of Caritas Europa member organisations, illustrating the reality of the lives of children and their families living in poverty across Europe, as well as the Caritas response in helping these children and their families.

During this reception, Caritas Europa will also present its new publication Listen to the Voices of Children in Poverty, with testimonies from children across Europe. It presents to the people of Europe, and especially to our politicians, the experiences voiced by children of their home life, social life and school life. Both the children and their parents have generously contributed to this project in the hope that the children’s voices will not only be heard but also listened to. For this brave generosity and action we thank and applaud them.

Caritas Europa hopes that the voices of children in poverty will inspire you to make a difference to their lives and in so doing to make a better future for all in Europe.
