Russian troops stationed in Belarus to begin military exercises
Russian troops who were transferred to Belarus in October to be part of a regional formation, will conduct tactical exercises for battalion battalions, according to the Russian Interfax news agency, citing the Russian defense ministry.
Interfax quoted the statement of the ministry as saying that the command will make the final assessment of combat capability and combat readiness. This will occur after battalion tactical exercises are completed.
It wasn't immediately clear where and when the exercises would be held in Belarus.
The Belarus defense ministry stated in October that 9,000 Russian troops were being deployed to Belarus as part of a "regional force" to defend its borders.
