ROC deepens educational exchange with European Commission
Twenty-eight officials from the European Commission were invited by the ROC Ministry of Education (MOE) to visit Taiwan and get a briefing on its politics, economics, culture and education system, and to learn some Mandarin.
On 18 August, MOE’s Deputy Director-General Chiu Yu-chan of the Department of International & Cross-strait Education, welcomed the EU officials and exchanged views with them on future educational and academic co-operation possibilities. On 21 August the MOE organized a seminar on the ‘Erasmus+ Programme and Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions’ with keynote speakers Monika Holik, Head of Unit for the Erasmus and Jean Monnet Programmes, and Kamila Partyka, DG Education and Culture Policy Officer for the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Unit.
More than 300 people attended, including professors and students, university representatives and other interested parties. Participants enthusiastically asked questions about the programmes, showing that Taiwan’s students and professors are very keen to actively participate in European cultural and educational exchange.
