EU-supported films are nominated for awards in the Berlin International Film Festival
Six EU-supported films have been nominated for awards in the 72nd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival that started on 10 February: Alcarràs, by Carla Simón and Everything Will Be Ok, by Rithy Panh are nominated in the Festival's main competition category. Additionally, Knor by Mascha Halberstad will feature in the Berlinale Generation Feature Films and Viens je t'emmène, by Alain Guiraudie, Nelly & Nadine, by Magnus Gertten and Dreaming Walls, by Amélie van Elmbt and Maya Duverdier have been nominated in the Panorama section. Furthermore, a screening of Suspicion, by Michael Blaško, another EU-supported title, will be showcased within the Berlinale Series. The EU has supported these titles in their development through the Creative Europe MEDIA programme.The winning titles will be announced during the Award Ceremony on 16 February, and the Festival will run until 20 February with additional screenings. The Berlinale will also host the European Film Market, targeted to film professionals and the media sector, where Creative Europe MEDIA will partake with an edition of the European Film Forum under the title ‘Towards a climate-neutral audiovisual sector'.The Forum, which will take place on 14 February, will present the current cross-border cooperation initiatives to develop a common methodology for the measurement of CO2 emissions in the AV sector.
