The European Commission has disbursed €240 million in grants to Ireland, marking the third payment under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the centrepiece of NextGenerationEU.

On 11 August 2025, Ireland submitted to the Commission its third payment request under the RRF for €240 million. This request includes 14 milestones and targets, corresponding to important steps in the delivery of three reforms and eight investments that will drive positive change for citizens and businesses in Ireland. The areas affected by these reforms and investments span energy efficiency, sustainable transport, carbon taxation, e-health, public administration, higher education, healthcare and reducing the risk of aggressive tax planning.

The Commission greenlighted Ireland's third payment request on 29 September 2025. Ireland's overall Recovery and Resilience Plan is financed by €1.15 billion in grants. This third payment will bring the funds paid out to Ireland under the RRF to 59% of all the funds earmarked for Ireland's Recovery and Resilience Plan, with 61% of all the milestones and targets in the plan met. Payments made to EU member states under the RRF are performance-based.

An interactive map showcasing examples of reforms and investments supported by the Recovery and Resilience Facility is available online. Further details on the RRF payment claim process can be found in the Commission's Q&A document.
