'China Unlimited' contest to mark 40 years of China-EU diplomacy
The Mission of China to the EU has announced a China-related contest in honour of the 40th anniversary of the EU-China diplomatic relationship.
China-EU diplomacy has reached its 40th year, and the Mission of China, in collaboration with the College of Europe and Atlas International Culture, has decided to create a special contest celebrating the landmark.
The contest, named China Unlimited, aims to demonstrate improved EU-China relations by inviting European citizens to show their perception of China through either an essay, photographs, a video or a work of fine art. Participation is open to people from across Europe, with no age limits and free interpretation of the topic. China Unlimited hopes to reach out to European citizens, by letting the contestants express themselves creatively about China.
Ambassador Yang Yanyi said: “The 40th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic ties celebrated this year is a valuable opportunity to look to the future and deepen our cooperation, which also means developing our cultural understanding.”
Participants will have time until 31 July to submit their work. After the submission, the contestant’s creations will be posted on the China Unlimited website where viewers can vote for their favourite piece. A panel of high-level judges will then decide on the final selection, and the winner will be announced at an event in Brussels in September.
Furthermore, other events will also be planned around Brussels to mark the occasion. Indeed, Brussels will be “buzzing” with China-related events in the coming months, including qi gong workshops, a Chinese film festival and a table tennis competition.
The Mission of China to the EU was set up in Brussels in 1975. Their goal is to increase cooperation between the two sides, working to keep on advancing China-EU relations and promoting exchanges.
