20081110184011!EurocitiesJohanna Rolland, mayor of Nantes and EUROCITIES president, speaks today (8 December) at two events during COP 21 in Paris.

Speaking at the Lima Paris Action Agenda (LPAA) Cities and Regions Focus event, she will announce that Nantes will host an international climate summit on 28-29 September 2016: “Major European cities have made climate change a priority, and the work doesn’t stop at COP 21. In Nantes we’re hosting an international climate summit next September to keep the momentum going.”

Johanna Rolland speaks later today at the Covenant of Mayors World Tour, which is an opportunity to discuss how to build on the success of the Covenant of Mayors initiative on climate mitigation beyond Europe. The event features high level speakers from Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia. The Covenant of Mayors recently merged with the Mayors Adapt initiative on climate adaptation to create an even more ambitious set of goals.

Johanna Rolland will say:  “The New Integrated Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy highlights the pioneering role of cities in taking comprehensive climate action. We invite all municipalities to sign up to the initiative, and encourage states to follow their example.” For more information, please contact me.
