Parliament will play a crucial role in approving the Brexit agreement between the UK and the EU.

EU negotiator Michel Barnier presented the withdrawal agreement agreed late last week to Parliament’s political leaders this morning. Afterwards he, President Antonio Tajani and Brexit co-ordinator Guy Verhofstadt spoke to the press.

Referring to the agreement, Antonio Tajani said: “Brexit is most of all about people. It is about the rights of our citizens, preserving the peace in Northern Ireland and safeguarding jobs affected by the UK’s departure.”

MEPs are expected vote on the agreement at the beginning of next year.
