Mergers: Commission clears the acquisition of ECF by PAI Partners
The European Commission has approved under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of ECF Group Equity (“ECF”) by PAI Partners SAS (“PAI Partners”), both based in France. ECF is active in the wholesale trade of equipment and non-food consumables for the hotel industry and professional care. ECF is active worldwide and within the EU is mainly active in Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy and Luxembourg.
PAI Partners is a private equity firm that manages funds investing in business services, food, consumer products, industrials and healthcare. PAI Partners is active in many countries and in all EU Member States. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns, given its very limited impact on the structure of the market. The transaction was reviewed under the simplified merger control procedure.
