The European Parliament’s first official visit to Taiwan, conducted by the Special Committee on Foreign Interference in all Democratic Processes in the European Union, including Disinformation (INGE), published its mission report, 6 December, concluding that the visit to Taiwan was a resounding success. The report acclaims the ‘Taiwanese model’ of fighting disinformation, which it describes as distinguishing itself for the extent to which the whole of society is involved and for its ability to protect democratic principles, without curtailing freedom of expression or freedom of the media. The findings presented in the report, which can be found on the European Parliament’s website, will feed into the upcoming INGE report, due in January 2022.
