On 14 February, the Commission announced the winners of the latest call for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships. With a total budget of €257 million, 1,235 experienced researchers have been selected to work on top-notch projects spanning all scientific disciplines. Most selected projects are in the fields of social sciences and humanities (24.5%), life sciences (21.3%), information science and engineering (13.9%) and chemistry (13.8%).

Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Commissioner Mariya Gabriel said: “We warmly congratulate these 1,235 scientists who have been selected for the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships. We are also glad to announce that we will fund 58 additional excellent researchers in the so-called widening countries wishing to carry out their ground-breaking studies, thanks to the European Research Area fellowships call for Spreading Excellence.”

That is the second call of MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships under the Horizon Europe programme for research and innovation. These fellowships give outstanding post-doctoral researchers the possibility to work on their own projects while receiving training and supervision to enhance their skills and boost their careers. Selected grantees will carry out their projects at universities, research centres and businesses across 48 countries. The next call for applications will open on 12 April 2023.
