European Commission president and Italy’s prime minister to visit Yad Vashem

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (pictured) will visit Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem today (14 June), writes Yossi Lempkowicz.

Accompanied by Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan, President von der Leyen will tour the Yad Vashem Archives, where she will receive a briefing from Yad Vashem International Relations Division Director Dr. Haim Gertner on the status of Yad Vashem’s work with the European Holocaust Remembrance Infrastructure (EHRI).

Following this presentation, she will participate in a memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance.

On the same day, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi (pictured) will also visit Yad Vashem where he will  tour the Holocaust History Museum, take part in a ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance, visit the Children’s Memorial and sign the Yad Vashem Guestbook.

He will  be accompanied by Israel’s Justice Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Gideon Saar.
