New European Digital Media Observatory hub fights disinformation in Ukraine and Moldova
A new regional hub of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) will support Ukraine and Moldova in fighting disinformation.
The hub, FACT, will bring together a multidisciplinary community for detecting and analysing manipulation and disinformation campaigns, particularly Russian disinformation. As part of its mission, FACT will also monitor the upcoming electoral period in Moldova, contributing to ensuring electoral integrity.
The launch of this new hub brings the total number of hubs in the EDMO network to 15, with coverage of the whole EU and beyond.
In addition to establishing the FACT hub, six existing EDMO hubs with funding contracts ending in 2025 will continue their work. All the hubs were selected after a call for proposals and they will benefit from around €8.8 million funding support from the Digital Europe Programme over a period of 30 to 36 months.
EDMO and its regional hubs are independent from any national or EU public authority and include organizations that adhere to the highest standards of professional integrity, ethical conduct and independence.
