Ukrainian authorities exhumed seven bodies on Monday (13 June) from a forest in the vicinity of Kyiv. Police said that they were civilians who were killed during Russian occupation.

They were found in Vorzel, less that 10 km from Bucha. Kyiv claims that Russian forces occupied the area and carried out systematic executions as a failed attempt to capture Bucha. Russia denies this.

Andriy Nyebytov (Chiiv Region's Police Chief) posted the following on Facebook: "This is another sadistic act of the Russian Army in the Kyiv area."

Nyebytov, a Nyebytov informs Reuters that one of the exhumed remains was that of a man aged around 40 in plain clothes.

He has suffered two injuries. He was hit in the knee by a gun. He said that the second shot went into his temple.

Russia's defense ministry did not respond to an email request for comment.

Investigators stated that it would take some time to identify the bodies as they had already decomposed.

According to Ukraine, more than 400 bodies were found in mass graves that were discovered in April.

Russian officials dismissed Bucha's mass graves as "fabrication", claiming that they were staged by Ukrainian authorities following the withdrawal of Russian troops from Bucha at the end March. Russia claims it doesn't target civilians during its "special military operation".
