Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the Ukrainian president, said on Monday (5 September) that Liz Truss, Britain's next prime minster, is "always on a enlightened side" of European politics and Kyiv looks forward to continuing co-operation.

"In Ukraine we know her well." After praising her predecessor Boris Johnson, Zelenskiy stated that she was always on the enlightened end of European politics.

"I believe we can do more together for the defense of our countries and the failure of all destructive Russian efforts."
