Ukraine to get anti-drone systems in coming days, NATO's Stoltenberg says
NATO is set to deliver air defense systems to Ukraine in the coming days to assist the country against the drones from Iran and other countries that are targeting critical infrastructure. This was announced by the alliance's secretary general on Tuesday (18 October).
After suffering several military setbacks, Russia increased its attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure far away from the front line. Ukraine claimed that drone swarms have destroyed nearly a third of its power stations in the past week.
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg (pictured) addressed a security conference in Berlin and said that the only way to stop the attacks is for allies to increase their air defense systems deliveries.
He said: "The most important thing we could do is deliver on the promises of our allies, to step up in delivering even more air defense systems.
"NATO will deliver counter-drone system to counter specific threats of drones, including Iran's."
Tehran had pledged to supply Russia with missiles and more drones, as the West has been limiting their military efforts in Ukraine.
Stoltenberg stated that "no nation should support Russia's illegal war against Ukraine".
