The systemic and political reforms that President Tokayev's administration has ushered in the first 18 months will be given a chance to flourish in major election. Parliamentary elections are scheduled for January 10, 2021 to elect new set of lawmakers to the Majilis - the lower house of representatives in Kazakhstan's bicameral legislature.  The reforms include a 30 percent quota for women and young people in party list, the welcoming of a culture of opinion and opposition, and the formation of a parliamentary opposition institute. The last election for the Majilis was in March 2016.
