Pope Francis will make a state visit to Kazakhstan on September 13–15, 2022
The first day of the visit's schedule includes a meeting with Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and a ceremonial speech to the nation's civil society and the diplomatic corps accredited there.
The head of the Roman Catholic Church is scheduled to meet with other religious leaders on the second day of the tour in addition to taking part in the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions' opening and plenary sessions.
For thousands of Roman Catholics, including pilgrims who are anticipated to travel to the Kazakh capital on this occasion, Pope Francis will also perform a Holy Mass on September 14.
On the last day of his visit, he intends to meet with clergy, nuns, and seminarians of the Roman Catholic Church from Kazakhstan and neighbouring nations as well as attend the closing ceremony of the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will see the adoption of its final declaration.
Pope John Paul II made his previous trip to Kazakhstan on September 22 and September 25, 2001. The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is customarily held every three years in the capital city of Kazakhstan, and Pope Francis is the first leader of the Roman Catholic Church to confirm his attendance.
