Kazakhstan is among the top four exporters of rapeseed meal to the EU
Kazakhstan is actively developing new markets for its oil and fat products. Thus, the exports of Kazakh meal to the EU countries have recently increased significantly. According to APK-Inform, citing the data of the European Commission, in 4 months of 2024/25 MY (July-October), Kazakhstan became the TOP-4 supplier of rapeseed meal to the EU. The shipments of the product amounted to 5 thsd tonnes (in the same period of the previous season, Kazakhstan's rapeseed meal was not supplied to the EU).
The share of Kazakhstan in the total imports of this product by European countries was 3.5%. The top three suppliers were Ukraine (117.4 thsd tonnes, 80% share), Belarus (10.3 thsd tonnes, 7%), Bosnia and Herzegovina (5.3 thsd tonnes, 3.7%). Also, according to the results of four months of the current season, Kazakhstan ranks 4th in the ranking of the TOP exporters of sunflower meal to the EU, although the volume of shipments slightly decreased compared to the same period of 2023/24 MY - to 18.3 thsd tonnes (against 27.7 thsd tonnes in July-October 2023). The share of the Republic of Korea in the total imports of sunflower meal to the EU is 2.8%. The top three suppliers are Ukraine (368.1 thsd tonnes, 56%), Argentina (238 thsd tonnes, 36%), and Serbia (18.5 thsd tonnes, 2.8%).
As we can see, despite the geographical remoteness of Kazakhstan from the EU, the volumes of supplies of Kazakh oil and fat products are almost equal to the shipments from European countries. We will discuss the prospects of trade and logistics of Kazakh oil and fat products during the international conference “KazOil 2025”, which will be held on 13 February 2025 in the capital of Kazakhstan (Astana).
