Executive Vice President Virkkunen attends Summit of the Baltic Sea NATO countries
Today (14 January), Executive Vice President Henna Virkkunen (pictured) will attend the Baltic Sea NATO Allies Summit in Helsinki. The summit aims to strengthen regional security and enhance cooperation among NATO member states bordering the Baltic Sea. Heads of State and Government from Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Sweden will hold informal discussions on bolstering the protection of the Baltic Sea and safeguarding critical infrastructure.
EU-NATO cooperation and coordinated actions will be key to achieving these objectives, reflecting their complementary roles in regional security. The Executive Vice-President's participation underscores the European Commission's commitment to these efforts, particularly in protecting the EU's critical infrastructure, including cables and telecommunications networks, to prevent potential disruptions and ensure the uninterrupted flow of information and communication.
