The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Brussels, along with Derya Soysal, organized a meeting between Bokhadir Abduvaliev, mayor of Yunusabad, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and Şevket Temiz, member of the Brussels parliament, Belgium, to discuss strengthening co-operation between Brussels and Tashkent. Yunusabad and Tashkent export a great deal of foodstuffs to the world and Europe. It is in Uzbekistan's interest to increase its exports to the European market via Brussels, writes Derya Soysal.
The mayor was accompanied by Deputy Mayor Sherzod Erkinlar and Economic and Commercial Advisor Bobur Rasulov from the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Brussels.
Several potential corporations were discussed, including economic cooperation (food trade/Mabru), cultural cooperation, twinning, international cooperation, and commercial cooperation.
Temiz explained the Belgian and Brussels food market, and the Uzbek mayor highlighted the strengths of the Yunusabad municipality. The cities of Brussels and Yunusabad are the economic and cultural centers of their respective capitals. Therefore, the two cities share many common points and can co-operate at different levels.
