Timing of the publication of the EU ETS auction calendar
Following the operation of the Market Stability Reserve (MSR), which results in 190,494 202 allowances being placed in the MSR for the September 2026 – August 2027 period, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) will publish the revised 2026 and the new 2027 auction calendars for allowances in respect of stationary installations, maritime transport and aviation (ETS1 allowances) before 31 July, pursuant to Article 12(2) of the Auctioning Regulation.
The auctioning of allowances in respect of buildings, road transport and additional sectors (ETS2 allowances) will start in January 2027, in accordance with Article 8(5) of the Auctioning Regulation. The 2027 auction calendar for ETS2 allowances will be published at the latest in September 2026.
