EP Committee Chairs to agree EU's 2014 priorities with Commission
European Parliament Committee Chairs will meet the EU College of Commissioners on the evening of 2 October to agree on legislative and political priorities for 2014, the last year of this parliamentary term. Members and commissioners are also expected to discuss issues upon which work could be finalised by the April 2014 plenary session. The outcome of the discussion (from 18h30 to 21h) will be included in the Commission's 2014 Work Programme. The follow-up to legislative initiative resolutions and possible ways to improve cooperation in the legislative field could also be discussed. This is the fourth annual meeting of its kind.
Political group leaders to meet President Barroso on 3 October
Commission President José Manuel Barroso will take in tomorrow's meeting of European Parliament political group leaders, the Conference of Presidents, to pursue the discussion on end-of-term legislative planning.
This meeting will be followed by a doorstep with European Parliament President Martin Schulz (6th floor - PHS building), at around 13h.
