Civil Society Day 2015: Improving EU legislation through strong involvement of civil society

The European Economic and Social Committee, together with its Liaison Group with European civil society networks, is organizing the Civil Society Day 2015, an annual event bringing together European and national civil society organizations, business leaders and entrepreneurs, academics, representatives from EU institutions, including the EU Parliament. The 2015 event will have a special focus on how European legislation can be made more tangible, concrete and efficient, while assuring a better implication of civil society. On 16 June at the EESC headquarters in Brussels, policymakers together with experts and civil society will:
• Develop possible solutions on a more effective policymaking environment, drawing on the expertise of civil society;
• create a permanent Civil Dialogue and participation of civil society on all levels, and;
• discuss the social, economic, civic and external dimensions of EU policies.

Key speakers include Ramón Luis VALCARCEL SISO, Vice-President of the European Parliament, Zanda KALNINA-LUKASEVICA, Parliamentary State Secretary for the European Affairs of Latvia, on behalf of the Latvian Presidency, Danuta HÜBNER, chair of the AFCO committee of the European Parliament as well as Marianne KLINGBEIL, Deputy Secretary General of the European Commission.
