EU Reporter exclusive: Farage - 'I sat in a darkened room for five minutes, and decided to press on'
Following news of UKIP leader Nigel Farage's resignation-as-promised on Friday (8 May), UK and EU politics were rocked by the news that his party had rejected his resignation.
Speaking exclusively to EU Reporter, Farage said: "I resigned on Friday, and my party had unanimously rejected my resignation by Saturday (9 May).
"My party has declared that it is behind me totally - 'You have fought tooth-and-nail to win the UK a referendum on EU exit, Nigel,', they said 'so you had jolly well better stay and finish the job'.
"I walked out of the meeting, went to a darkened room for five minutes, and then decided to press on, so I am here to stay as UKIP leader."
EU Reporter will keep abreast of all further developments concerning UKIP's post-election strategy.
