EU PNR: Lead MEP to brief Civil Liberties Committee
Civil Liberties Committee MEP Timothy Kirkhope (ECR UK), who is leading three-way talks with the Council and Commission on the EU Passenger Name Record (PNR) proposal on using air passengers' data to fight terrorism and serious transnational crime, will brief the committee on their progress this afternoon (1 December) from 16h15 to 16h25. Parliament aims to reach a deal on this file by the end of 2015.
The EU PNR proposal would oblige airlines to hand their passengers’ data to EU countries in order to help the authorities to fight terrorism and serious transnational crime.
The fifth session of three-way trilogue talks is scheduled for 2 December and the sixth one for 15 December.
The meeting will be webstreamed on EP Live.
