JoinCare Explores Scientific Exchange During Visit toJapan’s National Institute of Infectious Diseases

JoinCare, an open decentralised science (DeSci) platform for early-stage biomedical
innovation, has expanded its academic collaboration in Asia. Its Chief Executive Peter
Sachsenmeier recently visited Tokyo for an academic exchange at the invitation of Dr
Masanori Isogawa, Director of the Department of Virology II at the National Institute
of Infectious Diseases (NIID), part of the Japan Institute for Health Security (JIHS).

During the visit, Dr Sachsenmeier met with Dr Isogawa to explore collaboration in
virology research, infectious disease prevention, international academic exchange, and
support for early-stage biomedical innovation.

Discussion and Contribution to Scientific Exchange

The two sides held in-depth discussions on scientific project evaluation, the integration
of medical and scientific expert networks, academic exchange in virology, and
collaborative frameworks for open biomedical innovation. They reached an initial
understanding on future cooperation in these areas.

Dr Isogawa expressed his appreciation for JoinCare’s interest in and support for
virology research, infectious disease prevention, and international academic exchange.
He noted that the visit would lay the groundwork for ongoing scientific exchange,
expert networking, and support for research projects led by early-career investigators.

A key outcome of the visit was JoinCare’s contribution to scientific exchange and
collaborative research activities hosted by NIID. This contribution is intended to
facilitate international cooperation in virology, infectious disease research, and public
health.

Academic and Industrial Background of Peter Sachsenmeier

As a member of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech),
Sachsenmeier has been actively involved in the development of Industry 4.0,
international innovation networks, and university–industry research collaborations.
Throughout his career, he has advised governments, international organisations, and
corporate partners on innovation strategy and technological development.
His interdisciplinary, cross-regional experience in research and industrial collaboration
underpins JoinCare’s international strategy, helping the platform to connect researchers,
experts, and innovation partners worldwide while supporting the long-term translation
of early-stage biomedical innovations.

Invitation to the 73rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Virology
JoinCare has been invited to participate in the 73rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese
Society for Virology, taking place from 2 to 4 November 2026 at the Makuhari Messe
International Conference Hall in Chiba, Japan.
Themed “Global Virology 2026: Deep Science for Emerging Threats,” the conference
will be hosted by the Japanese Society for Virology and chaired by Dr Takaji Wakita,
Vice President of JIHS.
