No time to lose as UK parliament can get back to work on scrutinising #Brexit say S&D MEPs

| September 24, 2019

S&D MEP Pedro Silva Pereira, interim member of the European Parliament Brexit Steering Group said: “The Supreme Court’s decision today means that the UK parliament can get back to work. Our group’s top priority is to avoid a disastrous no-deal Brexit. We are glad that parliament is again fully operational to ensure that a no-deal is avoided. We urge the UK government not only to respect the rule of law, but also to allow for as much open, democratic debate and scrutiny in Parliament as is needed to find a solution for Brexit. Shutting down parliament is never good news for democracy and the rule of law.”
