#EAPM Belfast Congress - latest news

The European Alliance for Personalised Medicine’s personalised medicine EU Presidency congress in Belfast is fast approaching. This prestigious event in Northern Ireland’s capital will be held in partnership with the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and is entitled ‘Personalising Your Health: A Global Imperative!’.
This will be the first ever pan-European, multidisciplinary Congress specific to the fast-moving field of personalised medicine and it will take place from 27-30 November.
Early Bird Registration has been extended to 22 September, allowing attendees to save up to 20% on registration fees. See following link
The event at the Belfast Waterfront venue will provide the biggest ‘space’ to date to allow for such a meeting of minds and expertise. EAPM is building a one-stop-shop for top-level discussion and the formulation of real action plans.
Be sure to join multi-stakeholders in this brave new world of genetics, imaging, cutting-edge IVDs and more. The plan is to build a better healthcare future for all Europeans through, among other things, shared decision making and cooperation.
A key aim is to also allow for cross-fertilisation between the different disease and policy areas, allow delegates to gain a greater depth of knowledge into barriers in the field of personalised medicine, and offer up valuable evidence and stakeholder opinion on which policy makers can base their decision making on how better to integrate personalised medicine into the EU’s healthcare services.
Already, 200 abstracts have been received for the Congress and the majority of the 250 speakers have now been confirmed. Please see the following link to the EU Presidency Congress agenda.
Two of the latest additions are Atul Gawande, who is Professor of Health Policy and Manage-ment, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Boston, US, and renowned author and speaker Gretchen Rubin.
Atul is also an author as well as being Executive Director of Ariadne Labs, a joint centre for health systems. He practices general and endocrine surgery.
In 2014, he presented the BBC's Reith Lectures, delivering a series of four talks on The Future of Medicine. These were delivered in Boston, London, Edinburgh and Delhi. He is the winner of two National Magazine Awards, AcademyHealth's Impact Award for highest research impact on healthcare, and the Lewis Thomas Prize for writing about science.
In November 2016, Atul was one of three recipients of the prestigious Massachusetts Governor's Award in the Humanities for his contributions to improving civic life in Massachusetts
Gretchen, meanwhile, is the author of several books, and has an enormous readership, both in print and online. Her books have sold almost three million copies worldwide, in more than thirty languages. She makes frequent TV appearances and is much in demand as a speaker.
She is a New York Times best-selling writer, a TED speaker, and has been a guest on Oprah Winfrey. Gretchen has around 2 million followers on Linkedin and presents her simple model on personalising interventions to increase treatment adherence.
