european-parliament-strasbourg1Pope Francis. Pope Francis will pay an official visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday 25 November. The head of the Vatican state and the Roman Catholic Church will be welcomed by Parliament President Schulz at 10h30 and deliver a formal address to MEPs at 11h15.

Sakharov Prize 2014. Dr Denis Mukwege, a Congolese gynaecologist who specialises in treating victims of rape and extreme sexual violence, will receive the 2014 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in a ceremony on Wednesday at noon, followed by a joint press conference with President Schulz at 12.30.

Growth, jobs and investment package. Following a presentation by Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, one round of political group speakers will discuss the Commission's €300 bn investment plans. (Wednesday)

Censure vote on Juncker Commission. A motion of censure tabled by 76 MEPs on the European Commission will be debated on Monday 18h in the presence of Commission President Juncker and all commissioners, and put to a vote on Thursday (27 November).

EU budget 2015. Feed-back by EP's budget negotiators on the unfruitful negotiations with EU member states on outstanding bills in 2014 and a new budget for 2015 will be debated on Tuesday afternoon 15.00. On Tuesday morning, MEPs will have to decide whether to fast track its opinion on allowing some member states to defer payments.

Palestine statehood. The question of the recognition of Palestine statehood will be debated with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on Wednesday afternoon. (Vote Thursday).

UN Climate Change Conference. Ahead of the UN conference in December in Lima, MEPs will discuss global measures and funding to keep the world on track for a sub-2°C climate warming scenario and approve their position. (Wednesday)

Pierre Moscovici. For the first time in his new term, Commissioner Pierre Moscovici will discuss the Commission’s position on national budget reforms and economic policy with members of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee on Monday evening.

Nouvel food and plastic bags. The Health and Environment Committee will vote on the novel food proposal and on an agreement with Council on reducing use of plastic bags. (Monday)

ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly meeting (JPA). During the weekend, the JPA standing committees of MEPs and their counterparts from African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) states will meet to prepare the JPA plenary debates and votes, in Strasbourg on 1 - 3 December, on the Ebola virus outbreak, terrorism in Africa and national reconciliation in post-conflict countries
