MEPs criticized new LGBTIQ rules in Hungary, approved funds for migration measures as well as investments for transport, digital and energy projects, EU affairs.

Hungary

Parliament adopted a resolution condemning the recent anti-LGBTIQ legislation in Hungary in the strongest possible terms and calling on the Commission to take immediate action

Rule of law

MEPs called on the Commission to investigate as soon as possible any potential breaches of the principles of the rule of law that affect the sound management of EU funds.

Protecting children online

MEPs adopted temporary rules enabling service providers to continue applying voluntary measures to detect, remove and report child sexual abuse content.

EU medicines regulator

Parliament adopted its position on boosting the mandate of the European Medicines Agency for negotiations with the Council. The aim is to equip the EU to better manage future health crises.

Migration

MEPs adopted two funds for asylum and border policies, which will help manage migration flows, ease the integration of migrants and improve border management.

Infrastructure

Members adopted the upgraded Connecting Europe Facility programme and released new funds for transport, digital and energy projects for 2021-2027.

Fisheries

Parliament approved €6.1 billion to promote sustainable fisheries and safeguard fishing communities.

Environment

MEPs adopted their negotiating position on the Environment Action Programme to 2030, which will guide the EU’s environmental policy and help its transition to a green economy.

Fundamental values

MEPs called for the protection of fundamental values in the EU and worldwide during a debate on the results of the European Council on 24-25 June with Council President Charles Michel and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Slovenian Council presidency

MEPs discussed the planned activities of the Slovenian presidency of the Council of the EU with Prime Minister Janez Janša and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
