Poverty
At-risk-of-poverty rate remains stable in the EU
According to the EU statistics on income and living conditions (EU-SILC) 2024, based on 2023 income, 16.2% of the EU population was at risk of poverty. The share remained stable compared with the survey results in 2023 (16.2%, based on 2022 income).
Since the EU-SILC income data refer to the previous year, Eurostat compiled flash estimates of the 2024 income to predict the evolution of the at-risk-of-poverty rate for the upcoming EU-SILC 2025. The flash estimates show a very slight, non-statistically significant decrease in the at-risk-of-poverty rate (16.1%) at the EU level.
This information is based on EU-SILC indicators complemented with flash estimates produced as part of Eurostat’s experimental statistics on income inequality and poverty indicators.
